History leans against me
Weighs upon and holds me
As I struggle with the truth of what is new.
Green shoots
Persistent in their cunning growth
Seemingly unplanned
Un thought
Un schemed
Exceedingly effective
Continiously break through
Threading through the preponderance
Of dark decaying past
They leave me hopeful
My response to this weeks OSI prompt Preponderance

I love those gentle stems pushing through, insisting…. Thanks for this! It gives me hope, too.

This is good, very good!
I agree with you, the past is a terribly powerful influence of our present behavior. Guess our minds are trained that way, by a 'preponderance.'

Hope of light from dark decaying past..yes, good thing about past is that it doesn't last..if only we are prepared to leave..

Oh! This turned out to be one of those prompts, where even as I wrote I didn't realise quite what I had opened. For me I love that poetry can do this, open up communication that lets understanding flood though, Thank you everyone for your thoughts.
Yes Sandy! Insisting is a good word, and suddenly I am filled with a bit of hope and peace again remembering I need not push insistent little green things into making progress. Thank you.
😀 and determination is a great word to be reading too GT
Thank you Jim, yes conditioning makes up the weight of our behaviour for sure, good to have minds that can question it too Thank Heaven!
and Oh My! Ramesh, yes the simplicity of being prepared to do what it takes, scary, timely reminder
Thank Shraddha
Thank You DWL for a prompt that evidently opened a door to much!
